I have been wondering about this activity for several years now and just can't find an answer.
At least once a week (this week it has been almost every day), on Purfoy Road in Fuquay Varina (which is why it puzzles me that it would be on this road in this small town) - a group of police officers gather on this 1/2 mile - 1 mile stretch of road between 401 and Holland Rd. (so probably 3/4 mile stretch tops). Most of the time they aren't together but spaced about 50 yards apart - and get this they aren't Fuquay officers, they come from
Cary, Apex, Benson, Oxford, Wake County Sheriff, Morrisville, Clayton, Wake Forest, Leesville, Youngsville, Angier among others.
So why would a group of officers from towns miles and miles away come to little ol' Fuquay to sit yards apart on a small stretch of road? The past 2 days there has been a group of them together in this small field.
I'm just curious - when you see 10 or more officers on a stretch of road you start to feel like you are in the wrong place or something...and this has been going on every week for several years.
I thought that but why down here and not more centrally located...and why wouldn't they be more together instead of in their own cars facing different directions ....
Oh one other mention - wouldn't this "training" if that is what it is, be a gross misuse of funds (paid by taxpayers) to travel this far for some of the communities especially given the price of gas nowadays? Why couldn't they conduct the training closer to their own town - some of these towns are much bigger than Fuquay - and some are in other counties!

more things to make me go hmmm
Well, for the smaller departments, sometimes they have to join up with several other departments who need the same training and do it all at once. It's definitely not a misuse of funds.
