I need exterior house painters and landscapers. I have gotten some quotes and tried to check them out in the Better Business Bureau online and none of them show. I thought every business has to register with the BBB even if no complaints? Is that not true? Has anyone worked with these three businesses and if so, can you tell me whether you are happy with them or not? Thanks a lot!

BBB is a voluntary organization.

Try NC Attorney General's Consumer Protection Bureau to see if they have complaints and if this trade requires a license.

When I've searched the BBB, it does seem to have at least a record for most businesses even if they have not registered, but they often don't have any info if the business has been around less than 3 years. I think there are more start-up landscape and paint businesses these days (sign of the times) so these may be very new ones. They need to at least have a privilege license in the city where they operate, so you could check with the city on that too.

However, you may also want to search this board for threads on recommended painters and landscapers. The topic has been discussed several times.

Default Thanks!

J_Lurk & Saturnfan,
Thanks for the quick reply and info. I didn't realize that BBB only has biz 3 years or older. And I'll check the NC Attorney General's Consumer Protection Bureau and this board for recommended services. Just what I needed.
