Just moved to the area and need a few items for our house. Does anyone have a favorite consignment or used furniture store they could recommend?

Try Consigning Design in Cary. There is also a website with some of their merchandise available for viewing. I was in there the other day and picked up a great dresser from Drexel Heritage for $145. It's in perfect condition and only a few years old. There are lots of great buys and if you don't see what you're looking for, you can put your name on a waiting list and they will call you if anything comes in similar to what you're searching for. I'd also continue to check Craig's List on a regular basis. Good luck!

Try craigslist.com . My wife has been here a week and already half filled the downstairs of our house with stuff that looks like brand new that all came from craigslist.

Thanks for the info. I also LOVE craigslist! I have gotten a beautiful canopy bed for my daughter, and office furniture. My timing just seems to be off a little lately, but I'll keep trying. Has anyone ever heard of Thieves Market Mall in Raleigh? I saw it advertised on craigslist. Didn't know if it was worth the drive over or not. Thanks again

Corts Furniture off of New Hope Road in Raleigh is really good also, a lot of businesses lilke doctors offices, and lawyers offices rent the furniture and then Corts has a boutique showroom next door where they sell many of the items at a really good rate.

I have compared prices of used furniture, rentals and new furniture; I find that new furniture, if required for short durations, is equally viable and therefore better.

I believe there's a consignment/used furniture shop in Wakefield in the same strip mall as the Kroger and movie theater. Hopefully someone from that area can confirm

Obviously the thrist stores. In Durham, I've had good luck with Goodwill off of the 70, the Habitat Thrift shop off of shannon, and personal favorite, Everything But Granny's Panties, off of Guess Road. I've found these places to be cheaper than Craigslist a lot of times. And I don't have to super overanalyze every picture to see if there's any gnarly stains or scratches or anything, cuz I can see it in real life.

There's another one that has opened up in the last year or two. It's at the intersection of Cornwallis Rd. and 55 in Durham.
