Hello everyone,

My family has made the decision to move to North Carolina, specifically around Raleigh Burbs. We are looking for new construction opportunities in communities that offer large lots (1 acre+). We are looking for a nice, quiet wooded area.

Hard to figure out where to start. Searched the internet and found some options but I'm sure there are a lot more out there. Hence I'm here hoping people in the area can let me know what's available out there. If it helps, our budget goes to 1.4m, but of course less is always better

Are there schools, commutes, amenities to consider? For a 1+ acre wooded lot, I think you're going to be out a ways, so the next question is in which direction.

I would say no more than 45 mins to 1 hour outside the city area. Schools are not a consideration. It would be nice to have a grocery store or a Walmart/Target less than 30 mins away. Hope this helps. As far as direction, we are open to that as well for the right home.

I had occasion to be out in the Lizard Lick area a couple of weeks ago and drove back toward Rolesville along Riley Hill and Rolesville Roads. That might be an option. I'd also look at Wendell and Knightdale.

You can get what you want in North Raleigh. There are some new home neighborhoods ~$1 million near Creedmoor Rd and Hwy 98. You can also cross over Hwy 98, where you will have a Wake Forest address, and get similar for slightly less. You'll be around 30 minutes from downtown Raleigh, 25 minutes from downtown Durham, and 20-25 minutes from RTP on the southern side of Hwy 98, a bit longer commute if you head north of Hwy 98 or east of Creedmoor Rd.

Seaforth Preserve, off U.S. 64 in Chatham County is an easy drive to Pittsboro, Cary, Apex.
One exclusive builder, so you may or may not like the typical styles offered.

There are existing single family homes in NW Raleigh (Leesville inside 540) that meet your criteria. But finding a new property with that much acreage this close in would be a unicorn at this point.

You also may be able to find a 1-acre lot for $500K or so, then build something for $250/SF i.e., $1.4 million for a 3,500 SF home, but that may also be hard... especially if you want to central triangle location (< 30 minutes from RTP, RDU, Raleigh, Durham, Cary, Brier Creek, Crabtree, Umstead Park etc.).

Agree except think 30 minutes to downtown Raleigh from NC98 & NC50 was true 5+ years ago... but now I'd say a solid 45 minutes via Creedmoor or Six Forks.

Nice, quiet, wooded, one acre+, all doable. New construction in a neighborhood might be a bit of a challenge. If you'd open your criteria to an existing home you'd nearly have the world as your oyster.
