I've only ever eaten at/from the Hope Valley Rd location. Always tasty but never my favorite because of the aforementioned drier-than-I'd-like crust.

I'll have to try the TW Alexander or Miami location soon.....HECK maybe tonight.

I believe that there are a few different Randy's in the area that aren't all associated with each other - is that correct?

The Randy's in Morrisville will give you the real NY experience because they are hands down the rudest staff in all the land.

THeir slices are too big too. You're not walking along to Stayin' Alive and eating that.

All of those mentioned here thus far appear as locations on "The" Randy's website...

https://randys-pizza.com/locations/

I've still only ever been to the Hope Valley Rd one so can't personally attest to how much variance there is between locations.

Do it!! I'd suggest the Miami Blvd loc before TW Alexander but they both are def solid. It's the real deal.

If you feel like traveling just a short ride south, I found Anthony's in Garner to be the closest to NY pizza that I have had.

I grew up in western Long Island, worked in Manhattan for 35 years, then spent the last 10 in Northern New Jersey until we finally found our peace down here.

I know my way around a good slice of pizza.

It’s no contest. Di Fara’s. I was born in NYC. Lived there throughout my 20s. Di Fara is the legit real deal. I took a friend there a few weeks ago. Another former yankee who lived in Manhattan and Brooklyn for 10yrs. He immediately put Di Fara in his top 5 of all time. I was up in NYC last week and ate pizza twice. Both times I found myself wishing it was a Di Fara pie.

Is it expensive? Yup. Is it worth it?

The OP asked, "sold by the slice" - is this true for the favorite places mentioned? I looked at some of the online menus and couldn't tell.

In my case it's just me and my shadow - and whatever calories/carbs/fats my shadow eats I end up wearing, so whole pies are avoided. But as an ex-NYer I still love pizza.
