My Caligirl and I are planning to visit some of the Movies in the Park over the next bunch of weeks throughout summer (just like those movies at the pier held in Santa Monica, CA). Might be a great way to get a bunch of blankets, lawn chairs, snacks and drinks together and meet up with fellow Westerners. We'll be visiting a couple this weekend and will let everyone know how they go:
We are slowly discovering hidden gems out here, but I miss walking to “our places.” Everything here is a drive for us. We found Mama Dips in Chapel Hill over the weekend. We were too late for breakfast so we had fried chicken instead. So good! We used to go to Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles, but Mama Dip’s is so much better. (They didn’t have waffles when we were there though.)
We are originally from Chicago and our outdoor music festival was Ravinia. (Anyone here know it?) Ravinia was the best. Hollywood Bowl was quite fantastic too, but growing up with Ravinia and actually sitting on grass was nicer…to me. Ok, now I’m totally homesick for both Chicago and LA. L
Let’s plan a CA transplant get-together. And Chicagoans should come too…
P.S. I think Five Guys is so much better than Apple Pan and In & Out. However, I totally miss the Apple Pan experience of waiting for our seats on the right hand side and the guy making ketchup smiley faces for our fries.
P.P.S I'm hot and now I'm sad. Living so close to the beach in the Gundo was always cool and breezy. I'm going to stop complaining now. Yeah Cary!

Reason: Code showed up when I copied my text from Word.
Look forward to living in North Carolina, Raliegh area. I know it will be a culture shock at first, but Los Angeles is really going to hell and expensive.
