Question; does the Wake County household hazardous materials place give free paint away? I remember in college my landlord sourced all his paint that way (different state though.). I have a shed that I want to get painted. Being that it’s a backyard shed I’m more about saving money than obsessing about what shade of gray or white it is. The siding is T1-11 and it kind of drinks paint from what I hear.

You mean paint that people drop off? I did not notice a sign last time I was there, but that's a great idea.

If they do, it'd probably be tough to get enough paint of similar color. I guess you could just grab whatever's available, mix it up, and see what happens

Lowes and HD used to have "oops" paint available at steep discount.

You could also try Nextdoor or your local Buy Nothing Facebook group if you have one.

You can also try one of the Restores (run by Habitat for Humanity). The sometimes have gallons of unused paint.

I was in there last friday. They have a big display of some eco-friendly paint they're now selling (new) for the same price as the BORG's.

That might not be a bad idea. I found some folks on facebook marketplace that have full things of paint too (buy then change their minds, etc.)

I think not. They don't even allow you out of your vehicle. The general policy at all Wake County disposal facilities is that nothing can be scavenged.

You can get some nice stuff from the Lowes/HD return shelf in the paint department. I think they've gotten a little wise to marking $50 cans down to $5 now, but they are still deeply discounted. Prolly a bunch of youtubers ruining it like always. I saw new paint at the Restore, but I'd be careful getting too cheap. You could more than double your work if it decides to flake out in a year of UV exposure.

Try a Sherwin Williams too. I bet they have to be able to handle mistakes/returns/etc.
