Pretty huge if the Raleigh bid had a billionaire on-board.

I think Tom might be overly optimistic regarding the region carrying an MLB franchi$e, but what do I know?
He's the billionaire and I am just a humble Hurricanes fan.

So....
Settling Important Matters first:
What would a Triangle/Raleigh/Carolina MLB team be called?

"Raleigh Rabble?"
"Triangle Isosceles?" Holy Hypotenuse, Batman!
"Carolina Carpetbaggers"
"Carolina Catfish."
"Cary Beiges? Taupes? Agreeable Grays?"
"Wendell Why Nots?"
"Knightdale Knights?"
"Zebulon Zoom?"
"Chatham Champs?"
"Garner Slim Jims?"
"Harris Nukes?" Ooooo, Nuke LaLoosh tie in?

Might or might not be an overstretch, but give Dundon credit. He's proving to be a much better owner of a pro sports franchise than Tepper in Charlotte.

And, certainly far better than Peter Karmanos, of course.

And TD wants to lead a group, not go it alone. With the right group, MLB shouldn't be underfunded in the region.
Mark Cuban? They play basketball and golf together, and they know people.

The Triangle is a bigger tv market than St. Louis, Kansas City, Pittsburgh, Milwaukee, [Nashville], San Diego, Cincinnati, Baltimore, Las Vegas.

In numbers, yes.
Now, how successful/profitable are those franchises? Just wondering.

I know local tv makes up a larger share of MLB's revenue than other sports, and every franchise has their own local deals. It's not only tied into DMA market size, but it is partly.

It's great news if Raleigh gets a team, then the Orioles are no longer considered my local team and I will be able to watch them all the time. Stupid MLB blackout rules think that if I were allowed to watch theme every night, I would buy fewer tickets to their games. [I'm not driving 300 miles on the regular to watch a baseball game].
