My husband and I want to come for visit - looking for a decent place to stay where it might be a central location to various parts ... North Raleigh, Cary, Apex, etc. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Coming from Baltimore, MD.

My first choice would be around Crabtree Valley Mall (Glenwood Avenue at I-440). This is reasonably central to the areas you mention - North Raleigh, Cary and Apex. There are dining options nearby, and you easily can drive the 3-4 to downtown.

There are a lot of hotel options in the area. Searching on Google Maps gives quite a few hits (Marriott, Embassy Suites, etc.)

I would advise to stay away from Capital Blvd area(safety).
I agree that Crabtree Valley area is nice & central.
Falls of Neuse Rd/Wake forest Rd or Six Forks near the 440 beltline are
also nice/safe /and central.

Capital Blvd has more areas that are higher crime areas. Just the facts... More car break ins, more robberies, more drugs.

My kids go to the movies with friends at night in the other areas I mentioned but I would not let them go to the Capital Blvd area near I 440 for "safety" reasons.

Let us know what you think when you visit!!

So would Crabtree Embassy Suites be considered a bad area?
