I work at Wakemed - not as an RN but as a Clinical secretary. Ive worked there 6 years & have enjoyed it greatly. Also the nurses I work with seem very happy. Some of them have worked at other area hospitals & say WakeMed is great!! If you come to work at WakeMed - welcome!!!

Coach Juice - What unit does she work on? I would LOVE to work only 3 twelve hour shifts and no weekends, now that is what I call a schedule!

I don't work at Wake, but do alot of work with Wake and the other local hospitals. While I think most of the local hospitals are good, I have driven past them to go to Wake when I needed stitches on various occasions. I think Wake is that much better than the others.

My dad had emergency heart surgery at Wake Med last year when down visiting from Michigan. WE LOVE WAKE MED. He spent many a night on 3A (the heart floor) and on 3B (step down unit, post heart surgery). He spent even more time in CCU and CTSU immediately before and after the surgery and then a couple more times after that later last year after prostate surgery.

He still cannot stop talking about how much he LOVED his Wake Med nurses. All nurses we came across in the heart units/floor worked 3 12's a week. All of them were absolutely amazing. My dad even made strawberry pies after he was released to take back to his wonderful nurses at Wake Med (we made 3 trips with pies to make sure ALL the nurses got some since they only work 3 days/week!).

I've never worked at Wake Med. I'm not a nurse. I'm not even in healthcare. But considering how well cared for my father was and how happy he was with his nurses I can't imagine how it would be a bad place to work since all of the nurses had such great attitudes.

PS - Go Wings!
