So your numbers assume about a 50 mile round trip commute in a vehicle that averages 12 mpg (sounds like a big SUV). That also leaves 5 gal of gas for the weekend (60 miles).

Those little electric cars have a face only their mother could love , so I'll stick with my current vehicle that gets 25 mpg average and is paid off.

The Poulsen Hybrid concept looks really interesting and the mod will only run $3K - $5K. They're competing for the X-Prize. Supposedly going to be available this fall.
