We live in Cary and noticed the plastic burning smell when we were outside around 10 last night. I couldn't believe it was still so prevelant today. Coming from LA, we have some experience of smoke from fires, but nothing that ever smelled like plastic.

A tire place burned down in Johnston County yesterday. Maybe that is the plastic smell you all noticed. Here in N. Raleigh it definitely smelled like wood burning. The smoke downtown today was heavy. Hard to believe it made it all this way from Hyde county.

I first got that whiff and I paranoid about smells when I am driving. I always think crap something about to break down in the car.

Apparently that was not a issue with the ladies I saw out jogging around St Mary's Road.

I hope you guys have a good weekend it might be a good time to do some day trips out in western part of the state and smell fresh mountain air.
I feel for you.

I could not even imagine how the people manage who live even further east around Elizabeth City and such.

The smell reminds me a lot of burning solder. It's horrible, whatever it is.

Day 2 of smoke and you pick the smell as it is as subjective as a snow flake. We all smell differently but the bottom line is it still stinks and I use that term in a purely sense of smell way! But they say it should start clearing out later today and tomorrow. Time will well but I did learn that smoke does convey!!

But it did give us a 'sense' albeit via our noses how bad people have it that deal with forest fires seemingly every year such as California and recently Florida. Sometimes you have to experience it to really know what its like. And to this guy it just plain 'STINKS'. Let hope the fires get put out and we can go back to talking about WCPSS, Home Prices, real estate in general, and the many other interesting post in this forum. Happy Friday!!!
