Fairgrounds in Raleigh. Go near Trinity rd. A lot people park in and around Carter Finlay stadium and they are good.

I was in Brier Creek last night and there was sign at the entrance near BJs that read there was going to be a huge fireworks display on July 5th.

The Durham Bulls ballpark will have fireworks on the 4th preceded by a concert with Kevin Costner and his band to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the movie Bull Durham. I believe the Bulls web site is selling tickets. Usually it's a great fireworks show -- they set them off from on top of an office bldg. overlooking the park -- and who needs beach blankets and lawn chairs when you get to sit in a ballpark to watch them?

Yeah thanks! I went ahead and bought tickets to that. They were only 8 bucks.

Maybe I am just behind the times, but what aversion do all these communities have about not scheduling the fireworks for July 4th?!

Not sure but it may be:

Long Weekend. Having them on Thursday the 3rd, maybe they are thinking they’ll get more folks before they leave for a long weekend at the beach.

Payroll Budget. Maybe they don’t want to pay city/town workers the extra money for working the holiday? (Extra fire/police, park set-up and clean-up)

Profits. Maybe they are hoping to get people from other towns to come in, spend money, and see the fireworks. If everyone has them on the same day, that cannot happen. We will go to F-V’s, maybe Holly Spring’s / Apex’s / Cary’s if the mood and timing is right.

Holly Springs will have a fireworks show the evening of the 5th, and events during the day. Hey, you could hit 4th of July events all day long on the 3rd, 4th, and 5th!
