The funny part is that the recording doesn't actually say "record Aisle 5" but it says "Security cameras scan zone C12" but no one knows what the "zones" are! Maybe only the "higher ups" actually know. It's a big supermarket mystery...OOOOHHHHH...what zone is the deli? Frozen foods? paper products? Everyone starts looking around. It cracks me up!
Unfortunately, this is a sign of the times and has been around for years at most retail establishments. Shoplifting is their greatest loss of revenue, forcing prices up. Any deterrent to someone thinking of stealing is a good thing IMO. It's not directed at honest law abiding customers, and we shouldn't take it that way.
I do understand the feeling, though, as I always felt that way at Rite-Aid Drug stores when I went through those steel "gate monitors". I shop at HT all the time and have never heard this. Maybe I just don't listen. (Hubby always says that, so maybe he's right - for once )
Ever walk out of the store with your purchases and have the alarm go off because the clerk failed to remove the security tag? Sheesh...
I truly live in my own little world. I've shopped at HT forever and never heard this announcement.
Are we sure that it is talking about a camera scan. Perhaps it's some code for employees to straighten their zones?? I think WalMart or Target used to have a zone announcement. It was telling the employees to come to the front and pick up the restock/returns for their zones and straighten/front their zones.
I've heard it at the one in Holly Springs. You guys that haven't heard it listen carefully next time you go & let us know. I think a lot of people just ignore things that are said over the PA.

I worked at K Mart when I was in high school and the manager, who was female, would always ask me to use my deepest voice and make an announcement over the PA, saying something like "security check zone 5a" but we didnt even have zones. Its probably made up.
i shop at two different harris teeters & have heard that a couple of times at both places
