Husband and I spent nearly 3 hours at the DMV in Cary today - he passed, I didn't. (You can miss 5 questions out of 25 - I missed 6). I have to go back Monday and try again. I passed the sign test and the vision - thank goodness, so it could be worse! Guess I have to go back to studying the booklet online once again. Hope I don't have to take the sign test again, although it was pretty easy. Been driving for 35 years and a stupid written test gets to me ...
At least they hadn't cut up my TX license yet.

So you just have to take a written test??? I hate written tests. In CA you can just renew over the internet, if you haven't had any traffic infractions. So the last time I took a written test was about 24 years ago
I am freaking out. I am horrible at tests. WWAaaahhhh

Default What?

You have to take your driving test over if you move to another state? That is crazy.

Just the written part, yes. Some states have different rules then others. (Most are the same anyway.)

I did the same thing, failed the written test by one question. I also had to take the written part for the motorcycle to carry that over. Passed that part. Once I passed the written test for driving then i got the new license. They took my Texas one and dropped it in a ziplock back and stuffed it in the desk. That was kind of rough to see the Texas one go..lol

Lolli~I haven't got mine yet, but, my husband said it took him 4+ hours at DMV to get his license!!! 3 hours is bad too!! Are those long times normal? If so, when is the best time/day to go to DMV so you can get through faster?

That would be my luck, I would miss only one too & have to go back and wait again for several hours.

I went early, about 20 minutes before they opened up for the day and then there's no wait. I wish you the best on your re-try. I took the written test on the computer and felt my heart rate rise when I missed the fourth question! I did pass, and you willl, too! Good luck!

They'll need to rip it from my dead cold fingers, no way. I would have had them shred it in front of me if I was forced to relinquish it. Who knows what the DMV person will do with it now. What do they do with them? Nope, I'll just tell them I don't have my license on me. It's the digital age... if they can't look up my out of state credentials, fuh-get aboud it!

Sorry, I am still so resistant to the driving privilege differences here. And taking a written test after how many years??? Gimme a break!

Actually, they didn't take my license, nor my husbands, when we passed the test. I don't know if this has changed.

You'd have to take a test if you moved to any state....it's not really a difference from CA to NC. I am not sure if DMV records are shared state to state with other DMVs. I know they are for police, but not for everyone.

Hi everyone, I have a question about registering an out of state vehicle. Someone told me that I would have to pay taxes on the blue book value of the car in order to register in NC. is this true?
