Talk about easy ?!?
We decided to move to Chapel Hill from San Diego, and it took all of 1 week to tour the area (and reject Raleigh), make an offer, get approved for a loan within 2 hours, have the sellers approve the offer, have the home inspection
We were floored.
While shopping at the Weaver Street market, met a lovely couple and sat down and had lunch with them..they were happy to fill us in on the ins-and-outs of the CH/Carrboro area.
We did extensive homework before the Grand Tour, which was extremely helpful in narrowing down the houses we wanted to look at.
Our agent was tops.
Found them on the Internet and just liked the way their web site
looked. In the photo, they appeared to be "our type of people"
Carrboro "types" if you know what I mean.
Had some great BBQ and Fried Chicken...
Mid August packing up 3 cats and dog for the cross country trip.
At least we don't have to listen to "When are we gonna get there?"
Congratualations!!!! Sounds like things really came together easily for you - fantastic! I think you'll really enjoy Carrboro with it's funky feel and all the great things they have to offer. Welcome to North Carolina (almost!!)

What parts of Raleigh did you tour and how come you rejected it? Just courious...
We went to Raleigh three different times to look around
The Five Points area is certainly up and coming, yet there was that sense
of its not quite there (in 10 years, it should be)
...maybe it was the overall benign neglect that permeated the neighborhood.
Doesn't look as if anyone is spending money to upgrade the facades of many
of the quaint buildings..Maybe the city doesn't have a business district plan to
help underwrite improvements..a couple of awnings here and there would look nice
and give the place more ambiance.
The homes in Mordachai, Oakwood and Five Points that we liked (afford) were all on busy streets...does anyone landscape their yards in Raleigh ?
Like where we picked..about 3 miles outside of CH...not a walk-to-your-favorite-coffee-hangout-neighborhood like where we are currently in SD, but at least we have 43,000 acres of government open space next to the house!

I am sure the folks that live out in 5 Points would take exception to that statement. Ouch! 5 Points is one of the more prestigious parts of Raleigh.
That's a terrible thing to say about beautiful, desirable neighborhoods. I would hardly consider Five Points to be "up and coming." Everyone I know from that neighborhood takes great pride in it.
Gyro, welcome to NC. I'm glad you found some place that felt like home! There really is some where for everyone in the Triangle. Good luck with the move!
