So yesterday was national donut day. I noticed the parking lot of the Krispey Kreme in downtown Raleigh was packed (they were giving away 1 free donut to customers). I was in Durham and made my first visit to the brick and mortar location of monuts donuts. They are located in downtown Durham on Parrish Street across the street from Bull City Burger and brewery. I had a vanilla chai donut and blueberry basil buttermilk bar. The space and the donuts were fantastic. The bagels they make we're great too! If you ever go there, go early as they can run out of itmes as the afternoon wears on (they close at 2pm).

Here are a few quick pictures from my visit yesterday.

It wasn't on purpose...Last night my daughter and I went to opening night of Once On This Island at RLT. It was dedicated to the memory of Haskel Fitzsimmons who was the artistic director of RLT for 30ish years before his untimely death from lymphoma last month. For the opening night reception they served snack foods that were Haskel''s favorite. The menu included Krispy Kreme donuts! as well as kosher dill pickles and mini bagel pizzas.

I didn't actually eat a donut. I had one bite of my daughter's.

BTW, the play was FANTASTIC! We loved every minute of it.

It wasn't on the exact day but I celebrated this week w/ a Monuts Donut as well. Beet and pistacio flavor. Completely weird combo, but tasted great!

I wish Britts was closer to Raleigh. Best donuts in the world. Almost worth the 2.5 hour drive just for them.

Tried the donuts at the Main Street Grill in Wake Forest finally. They are pretty great. I usually frequent the KK @ 98 / Capitol

Then walk across the alley and play some old school video games!

I'll eat one or six for you next week when I'm there!
