It seems like the city of Raleigh is having a tough time with rising crime this year. Everywhere you look, crime is happening. I don't know which is worse now, Raleigh, Durham or Chapel Hill. I think I will stay away from the cities, until they can get a handle on their issues.

IMO the problem is that you have small town police trying to deal with big city problems. Sheriff Andy Taylor is a nice guy but he isn't prepared to go up against organized gangs.
I don't think it's out of control... it's about right on par for what it's been each consecutive year, even with the population growing. The numbers aren't great, but they are way below the national average, which is good
Remember the summer of the shark? It wasn't really... it was a slow news summer so the media hyped it all out of proportion. I think that is what's happening here... violent crime may be down on average, but we are hearing about it a lot more. We'll get some good storms going and you won't hear about any of this violence anymore!

True true. The media is very good at hyping things up and making them look "out of control." Basing the frequency of crime on the number of crime stories you read in the paper is a bit ridiculous

When I lived in New Orleans, crime was truly out of control. Not like that here (yet?)
Given the present day economic situation in the United States crime has picked up just about everywhere.
I must admit to being concerned with the events that happened at Triangle Town Center this weekend though. That’s the sort of thing that has to be dealt with firmly to avoid a similar debacle happening in the future.

I don't think the media is making crime look high. It's a poster here who said crime is out of control.
