Hi, this is my first post here. You all seem to have so much information that I figured this is the place to be to get my questions answered. My family and I are looking to move to the area in the summer. We currently live in a very small town in Sussex county NJ. We are looking for a town about the size of Holly Springs. My son, who is in kindergarten, a protected in school by waht is called section 504. He is not classified, however he has some processing problems. He has a very mild case and is never removed from the classroom, but his teacher makes sure all directions are reiterated to him. I was wondering how the schools in Holly Springs handle things like this, is there a section 504? Do children who need more help stay in class or are they in their own class? Any info on similar situations would be helpful.
Thanks!:

the "504 plan"...they have that here and my oldest son was part of it until he was in the 8th grade. I'm not sure if it is the same thing, but for him, it meant that because of his relatively bad eyesight, he had extra time to complete tests and was sometimes given bigger-print text versions of tests. He didn't like the special treatment and fought with us and the schoolboard to get rid of it by the time he was in the 8th grade though.

Yes 504 plans are everywhere and its generally special 'accomodations' for students who may have difficulties or disabilities that arent as severe or do not otherwise qualify under Special Education services/disorders.
