A zillion years ago, my first job was at a Pizza Hut. I did the dishes, made pizzas, and ran the register however because Pizza Huts serve beer. Yes they worried about things like that even back in the days of Marty McFly and "Back to the Future".

Try Bob Evans! Their servers always look so young. Or the Cracker Barrel or Perkins restaurants. They don't serve alcohol either. Nor do the Waffle House or Huddle House restaurants....

My first job was in a restaurant at 16 (actually not-quite-16) but I started as a busboy and eventually worked my way up to waiter. You might investigate that route; you learn about the business and see whether you even want to wait tables. Usually there is some form of "tip pool" where the bus staff gets a percentage of the tips of the wait staff.

I worked at Golden Corral in college and made a ton of money. Of course back then, GC was a "steak house", actually had a menu and table service, it wasn't a ginormous bufet!

Working up to a nice restaurant can mean very good money for a student.
As a young man, it was horrifying and humiliating. I was shocked at the sort of insinuation and insults that were hurled my way by people eating at Red Lobster. It was a very degrading experience. Waitresses that worked me didn't have the same experience. I would have quit that job but they were hard to come by in the early 80s.

Wow... that never happened to me in 10 years of waitressing... did the managers ever intervene ???.
Someone would have soup in their lap if they pulled that with me,
or I might have had the cook fix their meal "special" LOL
