You guys are the best for advice! Our family is looking for a local restaurant to have a celebration dinner. We have school age children, would be willing to go anywhere in the area (Durham, Chapel Hill, etc), like lots of different foods. We want something worthy of a celebration but not too $$$. Maybe $20-$25 dollar a meal. Thoughts?

Pop's near Brightleaf? Vita in Erwin Square? Jujube in Chapel Hill?
We went to the Angus Barn last time we celebrated a family event. It was great but at $30+ a meal we had a huge bill. With kids in tow I'd like to keep it more reasonable.
How about Maggiano's at Southpoint. Very kid friendly. You can order family style:
$25 per adult
$13.50 kids over 5
free under 5.
My kids and grandchildren were here last week. We all went - we really had fun and a nice meal.
With all the food they give you, sometimes hubby and I will split a meal. They will give each of you a salad...they claim they split it but it always looks like a full salad to me. And they'll split the meal and serve it on separate plates for each of you. The last few times we did this, they gave each of us a baked potato for no extra charge. That leaves room for dessert and you can't beat their chess pie with ice cream!!!
I recently saw a very similar question asked on a local forum for food lovers. Those people chose to go to Piedmont in Durham & said they had a good time.
