Hi, all. I just moved here from Anchorage, AK in order to start grad school at UNC. I brought with me my old Nokia (banged around but still in good working condition) and would like to skip the buying of a new cell phone down here.
I want to get the phone "unlocked" (which means to free the phone up to be used by other providers -- most U.S. cell phones come "locked" and are only usable through the provider you buy it from). There's no way to do it online for my particular phone, and my old telecom refuses to tell me the passcode to do it with. So I'm a bit stuck. Anybody down here know of a Moderator cut: inaproppriate electronics store that could handle doing this? (This is not illegal in any way, natch.)

We had an issue with reactivating older Nokia phones.
The smaller capacity SIM cards were no longer available preventing the carrier from activating the phone again.
