We lived in NH for 7 years before we found out that Vets qualified for a yearly tax credit of $500/year. Wondering if Wake County has anything like that?

Do you mean the state income tax? There's no local income tax in NC.

Sorry, I mean credit on real estate taxes. As mentioned, it was $500/year in our county in NH.

Wake County provides property tax relief for disabled veterans (and the elderly.) I think they give you a break of $20,000 or the first 50%, whichever is greater. I also believe there is an income limit. You may want to call the Wake County Revenue department if your not disabled, they may have something that I'm not aware of for non-disabled vets. Good Luck!
