One of them said there are over 100 German companies in North Carolina. There is usually a table of German speakers at the pool.
That's very interesting - one learns something every day!

Default Raleigh......It's not all what I expected..........

While I do realize that Raleigh is home for a lot of transplants, and that they absolutely love it. Are there any people that have moved to the Raleigh/Durham area and have tried to make it work, but just can't adapt to the NC/Raleigh lifestyle so have decided to pull out ?

Yup. But, if you came here, gave it a try and don't like it?

Why does it matter what anyone else did? They're not you.

Because when one is feeling a certain way, and not sure if they are just imagining things or if their concerns are actually valid, it helps a lot to hear from others who might have been in the same situation. That's why.

OP, hope you don't mind me speaking for you here.

Oh, I get that part. I guess the thing is that it's a city. Not a marriage.

If you move to a city and you do not personally care for living there, what do you do if you find out that X percentage of people agree or disagree with you?

Example: OP posts. Of all responses, only 1 or 2 agree. She gets about 5 pages of people who disagree.

Does that make her change her mind somehow? I should hope not.

That's all I was saying.

The Triangle is exactly what I expected.

Warmer and less snow
Larger city
Closer to OBX
Can make a living
Good medical care
More diverse population
Broader sports offerings
Good universities
Good barbecue

All from the perspective of moving from small town in Central PA.
