Does anybody know anything about the O2 Fitness in North Raleigh? My husband and I are moving to either Cary or North Raleigh December 1. I am a total gym rat so a nice facility with great hours and plenty of body sculpting type classes are a must. We checked out the new Lifetime Fitness in Cary's Lochmere area and LOVED it but I am looking for a comparable North Raleigh health club since we are house hunting in that area as well. Any thoughts would be helpful!

O2 is a decent gym, but is not comparable to Lifetime.
I don't think that there is anything comparable in North Raleigh.

I am a member of O2 and love it. It is also convenient to me on Creedmoor Rd. There is also the new one out there off Falls which I hear will be nice. Nikki is my trainer out there and is great, but alot of the other trainers are also great in O2 on Creedmoor. Lots of equipment and it is crowded sometimes, but I have never gone and not been able to get eqipment that I need. LOVE IT!

I got a flyer in the mail so I called them and they want $49 a month which to me seems a little high.

They just purchased Motion Fitness on 54 and Farrington road in Durham/Chapel Hill. Just about 90 days after it was Peak.

Are there health clubs in the Raleigh Durham area that have multiple locations. When I pull up gyms in the area on the internet, I get some names of gyms but no major chains really. I did see a Golds gym listed once I think. Thanks.

We just joined 02 in Cary after spending time @ Lifetime. My thoughts:

-Lifetime is wayyyyy too big. Too many thousands of members, too little parking, too much per month...just overall seemed like the wal-mart of gyms. We had to wait an hour just for someone to talk to us and "show us around" - they couldnt care less. So many people coming in and out, they just cycle through members. Their visitor & guest policy is stupid too - what good is an outdoor pool to lounge by if I can only bring 4 people a year with me?

-02 was much better. The equipment seemed nicer (all cardio machines have individual tv's you control), the setup was much more streamlined and consumable (they have a neat 30 minute workout area where you go from machine to machine quickly, and a cool "cardio theatre" that is seperate from the rest of the gym). They are MUCH cheaper, parking is 10x better (for me, when i build the nerve to go to the gym the last thing i want to do is battle for parking), service during signup was much more personalized, they have swim lanes as well for you to use if you want a pool....just seemed much more suited for what I was looking for.

My .02.

Love it. I started with O2 back in October 2009 and I love the people and the trainers and classes. I am no longer a member because I have moved so far away and join my community gym (not the same but its okay)

O2 is a nice facility. It's always clean. The equipment seems well-maintained and always in working order or repaired in a matter of days if needed.

The class schedule did seem a little lacking to me but I think that's more because of my experience at a previous club in a different city. The classes offered are available on line.

I am a member at Lifestyle Family Fitness, a national chain, and i know they have 4 locations in Raleigh area. I use the one in Apex and in Raleigh out by the new Costco on Wake Forest Rd and these are really nice health clubs very spacious especially the one in Raleigh. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of Lifetime but you aren't paying ridiculous prices for stuff you don't need (unless you have kids). Seems like it is similar to O2 but a lot less expensive.
