My "new" old house in Cary was built in 1987 and has Masonite siding. A few pieces were installed incorrectly (and have since been replaced) but overall it's in good condition. I'm not worried about it at this point - I'll just keep up with maintenance (or in my case, pay someone else to do it) and enjoy the benefits of owning an older home.

When did they stop building with Masonite? I am really not comfortable with it after all I have read.
