Another vote for BCBS. Does anyone use anything else? Good or bad, I am curious what other health insurance providers are being used locally.

UnitedHealth is another common insurance - I and several of my friends have it from our employeers. I don't think they sell individual policies like BCBS, however I have found it to be pretty widely accepted.

We've had BCBS for decades and LOVED IT. They have great coverage, EVERYONE accepts it, they're quick settling claims and have good customer service.
Now we have Aetna due to a job change and we're not loving it so much. It's been difficult to get used to. They don't contractwith LabCorp, which seems to be the preferred lab for doctors around here. This means weI have to drive to a different lab in Cary anytime we have to have blood work done. It's highly inconvenient to have to take time out first for the doctor's visit and them another trip elsewhere for bloodwork! Although I will say our prescriptions are DIRT CHEAP with Aetna compared to BCBS's $10.00 scripts. I've picked up two scripts this week and paid $.90 for one of them and $1.29 for the other whereas they were $10.00 with BCBS.
Still, if were "choosing" again, I'd choose BCBS in a heartbeat.

Default United Healthcare (Golden Rule)

We've had it for several months and have used it with no problem. Widely accepted. I'm sure that Blue Cross is good as well, but we didn't like that they couldn't activate insurance quickly (we pay it ourselves). Blue Cross only activates new policies twice a month, and we would have had to wait 2 weeks for coverage. With United, we only waited a couple of days. Prices are similar.
