WHat do you like to do? The Eno or Umstead Park is nice for an outdoor adventure, Marbles Museum in Raleigh is really nice for an indoor adventure and the Museum of Life and Science is fabulous for a combination of indoor/outdoor adventure!

I would second the vote for the Museum of Life and Science in Durham. Another option that works well for my family is Crowder Park in Apex. There's a nice walk around a lake with three playgrounds, sitting areas, and a boardwalk to watch the ducks, geese, turtles, etc.

We went and flew a kite at Bond Park the other day which was also fun. Lots of room to run around. There are a lot of flies in the picnic areas though.

Your kids might also like the Observation park at the airport.

Good luck!
