I have a few things that I need framed. However, I took them to Michaels and those people are on crack if they think I'm paying their prices. Even with their stupid coupon, they seemed like highway robbery for basic framing with a basic, simply wood frame.

Anyone have any recommendations for frame shops you use?

Thanks!

Honestly, if you have more than a couple things to frame, buying a matte cutter and framing them yourself will save you about 70% the cost - you'll still need glass cut to fit though.

Believe it or not there is a frame shop at the State Farmer's Market in Raleigh that does a very good job and is quite reasonable. A co-worker who is a lifelong Cary resident (yes, they DO exist!) told me about it.

When we moved, 10,000 lbs of property made it just fine except the glass on one picture. We bid it out to a few places and found Quality Frame (in N. Raleigh) to be the most competitive...

There is a shop at the Flea Market at the Fairgrounds. They have been there for over 20 years. I believe the shop is called Kidd's. They are the owners. Everything that hangs in my Mom's has has been framed by them. They are in a building near the Grandstand. I haven't been in a while, but I'm sure they're still there.

I think Michael's prices are so high because they have weekly coupons for 40% off in Wednesday's paper.
