I loved WNOR FM99 in Virginia Beach. I found the group witty and intelligent. I listened every morning on my way to work and when possible, in my office. When we moved to Michigan I was sad to hear a lot of morning shows that tried to be entertaining, but just don't cut it.

Any good morning talk shows (local) on the radio in the triangle?

I've been here 10 years and the only time I've been able to stomach morning radio here was when Bob & Tom was on 106.1 before it went country. If Bob & Tom were on satellite radio I'd sign up just for that!

I think you'll find the same thing here as you found in Michigan...they just don't cut it. Actually, I think you'll find it much worse here. I'm from MI and miss the morning radio there....Detroit had something for everyone in the morning.

I love these guys. They are hilarious. I just wish people would grow up and stop being offended by them so much.

On my drive to work I listen to G105. I don't think I need to grow up to stop being offended by some of the things Bob says on his show. He's one of those typical people that is always right. No matter what anyone says they are always wrong and he's right. He offends people and thinks it's funny. There's being funny and being offensive. BIG difference between the two.
When I get to work I stream z100 in New York. That is one of the best morning shows around.

The OP said they enjoyed a previous show that was witty and inteligent. The morning show on 105 is anything but. Bob Dumas is a juvenile in a 40-something body. The only thing I've found tolerable is Salt & Dimitri the Greek on 96 Rock. They're not great, but at least it has a local flavor. I mostly listen to the college radio stations in the area. The four best I've found are 88.1 (NCSU), 88.7 (Duke), 88.9 (Shaw) & 90.7 (NCCU). We also have an outstanding classical station in the area, 89.7 WCPE.

I think the morning show on 101.1 is pretty good.

I thought Bob and the Showgram was at best funny, but at worst ignorant and indicative of the fact that this is not a major exposure radio market. Things that have been said on that show would not fly in NY, CHI, or LA.

I've settled on 2 guys named Chris on 92.3 (broadcasting from Greensboro). Funny, good natured, and no hint of "shock jock" there - a bit rednecky, but in the fishing/hunting kind of way, not the racist kind of way.

I like 2 guys named Chris, too. 92.3 gets pretty fuzzy east of Durham, though.

+1 for 2 guys named Chris, great opinionated talk show. They don't do the fake laughing like most other shows.
