Where's a good restaurant for a first date? Here's what I'm looking for:

-in or near Chapel Hill/Durham area
-conducive to talking (not too loud, crowded, etc.)
-nice atmosphere
-not too pricey

Any suggestions??

Thanks!

I'd go with The Weathervane (at A Southern Season). A Southern Season, award-winning source for gourmet gift baskets and fancy foods.

It has a nice atmosphere and a very nice patio. It's also quiet and reasonably priced.

We had dinner at Mint, the new India restaurant in Chapel Hill, last night. It was our anniversary and we had planned to go to Lantern, but saw that Mint was open and ended up there instead. I'm glad we did (and not just because they gave us a free anniversary dessert.) The place is beautiful, the service was outstanding and the food was good. The bill for two dinners, naan, samosas, and a glass of wine was $33.

Not too cheap though. I once took a lady to a very fine French establishment, most expensive in town for a first date. I've been married to her now for 20 years. If you think you might like her, take her to Rue Cler in Durham. Not too expensive, great atmosphere, authentic European food. (French) Great wine list too.

How about Crook's Corner in Chapel Hill. Fresh, tasty ingredients. Or Acme in Carrboro. Or Panzanella at Carr Mill in Carrboro (owned by Weaver Street Market).

I agree that Jujube would be nice for a first date. Only been there for lunch (and for the amazing chef's table for dinner) so I'm not sure of the dinner prices.

The new Rockwood Filling Station in Durham (next to Qshack) would be nice too.

Panzanella. Acme is good too, but pricier.
