We need auto & home insurance and I'm having a hard time finding a price comparable to what we have in California. The quotes I'm getting are much higher. Does anyone know of an insurance company that has the lowest price? Thanks

I would have them both under one company if you can. I have heard the "Gecko" is good. But you didnt hear that from me.

Don't know about auto yet, but I, too, have found interesting discrepancies between CA and here (thinking it would be less expensive in all cases). However, shop around from office to office, even if it's with the same company. I've found discrepancies in that department, too. Not at all consistent all the time.

It does sound like having your home and auto at the same company does help average out a better overall rate. We'll be shopping around for another home insurance company since ours (Liberty Mutual) doesn't appear to offer both. However, LM did offer us the best rate by a hundred bucks from other homeowner's insurance companies (when comparing exact same coverages between companies). We're hoping that will be beat once we transfer our auto policies.

We've had decent quotes from Allstate in Carrboro (Ben Reece).

We have had Allstate for nearly 20 years, and when I called them for a quote, I found them to be less expensive in NC than in CA (we're in Northern California). We won't be saving a lot, but any bit of savings helps!

I have North Carolina Farm Bureau. Great rates and service. I don't know that they're the cheapest, but definitely get a quote from them.

WE have been with State Farm for 17 years now. When we transferred all our insurances here from CA we actually ended up saving around $200 per year while getting more coverage (you have to carry more coverage for your cars here than CA by law) all the way around. The only thing I think is more than CA so far is groceries.
