It's not in Durham, but we've started taking our VW Passat to Village Motorwerks in Raleigh and have been very happy. We used to go to Leith, where we were very unhappy.

Default VW Mechanic Question

MPowered Automotive in Cary, off of Cary Parkway, can handle VW repairs. They've done a great job on my Lexus and have some very knowledgeable people working there. They are very friendly, courteous and will go the extra mile for their clients. Give them a try!
