Is there a good butcher in the Raleigh area? I cannot seem to find one.
I am also looking for a place to buy whole Duck and Fois Gras

Thanks!

I would love to find a good butcher as well, I find myself buying meat at Sam's club, which is ok, but for special occasion items like prime rib it can be difficult.

I can't speak for the OP, but I have tried Fresh Market. It's nice, but it's more a fancy over priced food store then a butcher.

Bumping this back up. I'm looking for fresh duck for Thanksgiving. Spoke to Fresh Market on Falls of Neuse today and they do not carry fresh duck nor can they order it. Anyone out there know of a place to get fresh duck. I really need to come through for my dad on this one!

Raleigh does not have butcher shops anywhere near to the amount up north. Actually I have yet to see one. I usually get my exotic meats from here: fossilfarms and everything else from Harris Teeter. Harris Teeter always has great sales and you can ask the butcher to custom cut or order you pieces of meat. For example I ordered recently a 3 rib prime rib. Whenever I need ny strip steak I ask the butcher to custom cut me steaks about 2 inches thick...not those.5 inch thick steaks they have laying on the shelf. I have yet to be disappointed. What is also nice is that when they are out or do not have what I want I get a rain check.

Try contacting Coon Rock Farm. I participate in their CSA and I saw on a recent email that they're offering free range ducks.

Whole Food's Bell and Evans' duck is frozen. Still good though.
