Can anyone suggest a good insurance company to get renter's insurance? We are moving from MI to NC and are signing on an apt and are in need of renter's insurance.

We also want some recommendations for auto insurance for when we switch that over b/c we are sick of AAA.

This is the company I use. Very easy, although I've never had to file a claim!

I used State Farm for both renters and car when I moved from MI to NC - and stayed w/ State Farm when I purchased my home.

I've been with State Farm ever since I moved from Michigan. They were the cheapest when I went out for quotes when I moved down. What I haven't done is go out and requote every few years.

There are SF agents all over Raleigh so I'd recommend starting with the closest office to your apartment and see if you like him/her.

Often you get a multi-policy discount by having your car and home insurance with the same company and it can be a pretty sizable percentage off - you may want to ask about that when you check one out. Good luck!
