I am a SBF that currently reside in the Miami area, I am a guidance counselor in the school system. I am looking to move in a year or so. I've never visited the Raleigh area but have been to Charlotte. I am interested in living in a slower-paced, family oriented city. I don't want to be somewhere where there isn't any entertainment culture. I love the city of Huntsville, but I also love the location of North Carolina. I read a lot of the blogs for Charlotte and there seems to be a great deal of crime there. I am very impressed with the number of professionals that reside in both Raleigh and Huntsville. I love the scenery of the trees in both places. However, I love the location of Raleigh b/c of the proximity to other cities/states such as Virginia Beach, Atlanta, Myrtle Beach, D.C., Baltimore, and to Tennessee and Alabama. Can someone please give me some feedback on the lifestyle, cost of living, entertainment, location, weather, etc.?

I am very laid back person, i am not a club hopper. Although, I enjoy going out to a nice restaurant with friends/family, movies, shopping, concerts, plays, etc. I also enjoy traveling. I would like the opportunity to live in a location where I would be able to take quick road trips (4-5 hours) to various cities for culture or entertainment.

I think living here is going to put you in a little more central of a location than Huntsville for doing some of the things that interest you.
