I still have yet to wear a coat, jacket, or long sleeve device of any type. Nothing more then a crisp chill! I refuse to say it is officially cold. Heck, Tomorrow it is supposed to be sunny and hit 70 degrees. More sun worshipping for me!

Good excuse to knit the new dog a sweater, the one that has lizard-esque spikes on the back! (this was a big hit on the shih tzu...)

Hey... what did I do?

Since we're talking about weather here... The only thing I hate about cold weather is that I can't wear flip flops. I hate shoes!

An actual snowfall would be nice, as opposed to the ice storms we get.
1) Walking around on ice is difficult.
2) Ice makes for harsh "snowballs". (Avoid the face, please).
3) Snow cream made with ice isn't as good.

See, I knew the Triangle was a great place for 20-somethings.

And it's not even November yet....

I actually miss the winter temperatures there, but you can have the icestorms.

In response to swimming in the pool year round.....the typical day from December thru February has lows in the 20's and highs in the 40's to low 50's. If that is considered "pool weather" (outside pool weather) to anyone here I would love to know how you've managed to stay alive so far?

Actually, the average lows are not in the 20's. They are in the 30's. The average high ranges from 49 at the coldest part to the mid to upper 50's.

Not as if that's year-round pool weather or anything.

I am not a pool person. I wouldn't be in a pool if it was 50 or 90. I don't know what other people's tolerances are. I am sure some would hop in a pool when there are the 70's weather that do happen in winter, but good luck finding one that is open.

oh yeah...70's in the winter. That might happen for a a few days of the whole winter in a freak indian summer event....in which case it is likely just as warm or almost as warm in the Northeast at that time. North Carolina is not tropical. It is in a temperate continental climate zone like most of the rest of the eastern third of the country with Summers that are warm to hot, winters that are cool to cold. The peidmont of NC falls in the hot category for summer, and on the fringe of cold/cool for winter. If you can't handle cold weather at all....NC is not for you. Try Florida.
