Looking for best apartment/condo complexes. Want to rent for a while before we purchase. Looking for a nice, safe area with lots to do. Narrowed down to SW Durham, North Raleigh, and Cary. Need to be close to Research Park for work. Any suggestions will help. Thanks.

Welcome! I hope you enjoy it here.
North Raleigh isn't too close to RTP, but it's a great area. I guess close is all relative..... Muirfiled Villiage is a very nice apt. complex in N. Raleigh. It is just off Falls of Neuse very close to I-540.

We don't live there but The Lodge at Southpoint apartments/townhomes is close to Southpoint Mall in SW Durham area and there is another complex across the street from Target. Easy access to RTP, Raleigh (east) or Chapel Hill (west). Another up and coming area is Brier Creek which is just north of RTP. Lots of apartments and condos. Check out The Exchange apartments, most modern aesthetic around in this area. When you're ready to move to a house, let me know! We're in the process of moving out of our apartment and finding a home in those areas you mentioned.
