Has anyone tried Smithfield spiral sliced hams?
Do they taste like Honeybaked?
The great thing with Honeybaked is no salt, most hams make you so thirsty afterward.
We've tried country ham and it is very salty, I see why they tell you to soak it first!
I'd like to try a locall product because the pork here in NC rocks but at the same time, I don't want to experiment with Christmas dinner.

Thanks

Sorry to break it to you but the only thing that tastes like honeybaked is....honeybaked. I have tried the cook at home hams and it just isn't the same.

I really prefer Honeybaked hams for taste and have honestly boycotted Smithfield farms due to reports of poor and dangerous working conditions, violations of state labor laws, excessive use of illegal immigrants and reports of human rights violations. I do usually like to support local business, but this one that I refuse to support. You can google them and find tons of stuff.

I gotta agree with these guys ... nothing beats a honeybaked ham Cold, warm, or hot out of the oven. there was another ham place near the walmart on glenwood ave (not the brier creek wal mart) but it still never came close!

Honeybaked is way to go, unless you want country ham. Call in first to reserve a ham! Then get there early to pick up.

Thanks so much for the input.
I'll stick to Honeybaked, one less variable for the Holidays.
Nothing like that split pea soup from the leftofers, get your peas before the store runs out!
Happy Holidays to you all.

We just reserved one for Christmas and were told they'd have a Honeybaked discount coupon in the N&O
Sunday the 7th, 14th, and 21st of December.

I prefer Heavenly Ham on Glenwood. Even tho it's got the sweet glaze it's not nearly as sugary as Honey Baked and it has a stronger flavor.

Too bad the one in Durham closed when the shopping center had a highend facelift. It was sooooo heavenly!!
