We are headed out toward Carrboro & Hillsboro today. Any suggestions on good places for lunch?

In Carrboro, I'd recommend Elmos Diner and Carrburritos.

Neal's Deli if you can find a place to sit (it's right next to Open Eye Cafe).

Panzanella is also a good bet. Elmo's is good, of course. If you want something a little on the higher end, I'd recommend Southern Rail.

I like Milltown, near KFC. Their steak and frites are delicious.

I went to The Spotted Dog restaurant for the first time recently and was very impressed. It is across the street from Weaver Street Market.

For cheap and easy you can't beat Weaver Street Market. It's better to go there when the weather is good though so that you can sit outside.

In Hillsborough there are several restaurants in a row on North Churton Street. I like to walk along and check the menus and see what tempts me.

All of those are good choices in Carrboro. I'd rank Elmo's, Spotted Dog or Panzanella as my top. Southern Rail is very good too, but better when it's nicer weather, and you can sit outside.
As for Hillsborough, I'd go to Tupelo's. Wooden Nickle if it's open for lunch would also be a top choice (doesn't look like much, but is very popular--atmosphere and good pub food). Gulf Rim is excellent, and I know the owners personally. They are from LA and serve true, authenic Gulf dishes (but not just seafood). I just don't know if it's open for lunch.
Enjoy!

If you want pizza you should try Amante Pizza next to the Arts Center in Carrboro. They have some unusual toppings and the pizzas are delicious.

There's a McDonalds just off I-85 in Hillsborough, and a Wendy's in Carrboro.

Enjoy!

Dip's Country Kitchen on Rosemary at the Carrboro end of Chapel Hill.

Allen & Sons BBQ on Hwy 86 between Chapel Hill and Hillsborough.

I normally like Wendy's, and it was my first job as a teenager, but I would highly recommend staying AWAY from the Carrboro Wendy's. Very dirty, very bad service. The food isn't fresh. Getting in and out of the parking lot is a bigger pain than it should be. Spend a few more dollars and go to Neal's Deli across the street. It'll be the best few dollars you'll have spent.
