I just moved to north Raleigh near Wake Forest. I am looking for a family practice doctor who accepts Medicare assignment. One of my neighbors said she spent 4 months finding one and he doesn't take new patients. Any names would be appreciated.

You will probably have your best luck with publicly supported practices(owned by non-profit hospitals). Generally you can contact any hospital or your insurance to find out who is accepting the insurance. Good luck.

I bet you can get a list of family practices from the medicare people -- I know they have one for pediatricians. Then you can call or go to the websites of the ones you like to see if they're accepting new patients.

Medicare rates can be lower and payment times longer than some practices want.
