Hi,
I feel for you - we had two old girls that 'leaked' and for us PPA worked better than DES ever did
We're relatively new to the area as well, but we've found a vet we really like. Down to earth, easy to talk to, low key and very reasonable. Also they don't seem to always be selling something.
Can't answer specifically about the DES, but a quick call should tell you.

We took our 3 year old boxer to our vet in Rolesville because she was "leaking" quite a bit while laying down and sleeping. First the vet tried antibiotics, to rule out infection (we couldn't get a sample for testing). After we told the vet that we had already tried PPA a year ago with no improvement, she put her on DES. First she tried .5/mg once a day for 3 days. We saw a good bit of improvement but didn't take care of the leaking totally. Then she upped it to 1 mg for 5 days, then after those 5 days...once a week of the 1 mg dose. This seems to have completely stopped the leakage!
