I am just currious if I am getting taken for a ride, they just delivered me 20 gallons of propane and hit me up for 3.749/galon plus a 5.99 Hazmat fee and a 6.4999 Fuel Surcharge fee.

$94 for 20 galons of Propane seems like a lot to me.

I should note, we only use the tank for our gas logs and they do not charge us any annual tank fee.

We paid $2.19/gallon just a few weeks ago for 108 gallons from Amerigas. We're in Clayton.

Although I am not paying a rental fee for my tank. I am thinking about buying it so I can do a pay as I go with whoever is cheapest.
Strange but from making calls to various dealers it seems to be the norm to try and profit most from the faithful but unobservant customer and offer deals to those on a pay as they go basis.

Can't see the reason to pay a rental fee of $79 a year when I can buy the tank for $200.
From what I can tell, you get what you negotiate and if you own your tank you will get a better deal because you can go with just about anyone.

Andy did good getting it at $2.19/gal. Are they charging a tank rental fee I wonder?

We paid $2.29/gal yesterday with Campbell in Youngsville. They own the tank (no rental fee) and we have our downstairs heating, stove and water heater using it.I was hoping for a little lower, but it would be interested to see what others are paying.

Those "complaining" about 2.29 a gallon should consider yourselves lucky...some of us up north of you (PA) are paying well over $5 a gallon.

I called them they lowered my rate to $3/gal but it appears it is because I only use about 60 gal/yr and they own the tank.
Not going to worry about it since consumption so low.

Would love to get a blog going again on what everybody is paying for propane in the Raleigh area. I am currently with McCracken Propane and feel they are overcharging me. My most recent filling was at $2.49/gal.

I'm seriously considering changing providers but haven't found out what that will involve yet. My tank is buried. I have a quote from Amerigas at $1.79/gal and from KB Johnson at $1.89/gal. Intend to check a couple more. Any feedback from anyone out there on their experience with these or other providers would be great, as well as what you are currently paying. Thank you!
