Hi all,

first of all, please excuse my english because I' not from the US.

We have the opportunity to move for one up to three years into the Triangle Area. One of the most greatest challanges in this content is the ongoing school education of our 12 years old son. I'm interested into any information about German kid's in schools of this area:

- are there public and / or privat schools offering German and Latin as a first or second foreign-language,
- how are doing foreign kids in nc schools in the first months ....
- are there any tests or pre-conditions that they will accapted at schools,
- are there other Germans with kids in this age who can share basic information and can provide tips and possible "traps"
- and, and ....

Many thanks in advance for any kind of information
GOWEST

hi,

why don't you check out carolinakinder.org. this is an organization of parents from Germany. They might be able to help you with all your questions. i know, that some middle schools offer German at school. and there are still private schools that offer German and other languages (i.e. cary academy).
i am a former public school teacher from Germany and moved here more than 2 years ago. i also have friends, who moved to the states and have kids and they all didn't have problems at all school-wise. another family i know moved to michigan for 3 years with 3 kids and moved back to Germany and their kids are doing well in the "Gymnasium" now. If you need more help, just write me a message here.
i would have preferred to type that all in English, but I am not sure about the policies in this forum. some won't allow messages in a foreign language.
but keep in mind: am anfang sieht alles schwerer aus, als es ist

My daughter is in middle school in Chapel Hill and she is taking Latin. She has a great teacher. I know that you can take German at the high school too.
