My daughter attends Middlecreek Elementary in Cary, NC. It has so far been very good for her. It's a year round program, which although not perfect, does seem helpful -- the long break at summer was too much for my daughter. It seems that it makes a difference which school you are in, and so that makes it hard to answer, since you haven't moved here yet.
I moved down here to NC about a year and a half ago, and all my experiences have been better by far than they were in PA. However, it's much better now in Wake County than it was in Chatham County. And yet, I've heard that Chatham County schools are great, so I think you have to take it county by county, and then school by school.
