Hey everybody! Just wanted to say this is a great forum. Everytime I read it you guys convince me to make the move! I have a question. My boyfriend and I would like to come down to the Triangle are to get a feel of the area and see what it is like before we make any move. Any suggestions on a reasonably priced hotel that will allow us to feel out the area?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

If you are just looking in the general area, Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Cary, etc.. I would pick a place out near the Airport. A lot of chain hotels out that way and it is located near I40 so you have easy access everything.

I know there is a Holiday Inn Express out there, and I think one of the Suite Hotels (Staybridge?, Embassy?). If you stick to a well known chain you should be good and safe.

When we were searching this area, we stayed near Crabtree Valley mall and also near the airport. Those are probably the 2 best locations to stay if you are looking at all areas of the Triangle, as they are both centrally located.

Embassy Suites in Cary is well-located.

Great access to I40 and the entire Triangle.

Definately try roomsaver.com or hotwire. You can also look for weekly rates if you are staying that long. We stayed at the Extended Stay in Cary for $49/ night and also Homestead Inn off Appliance in N. Raleigh for $39/ night. Both places were clean and just what we needed. They both have kitchens and breakfast in the AM. They also have internet service in there.
