I agree Cary isn't really that special and is overhyped..but wouldn't call it "Bad". Certain trolls or "baiters" on this forum are especially cooky in their hype; but consider the source really. Cary is centrally located to be a decent commute to RTP and/or downtown Raleigh; but that is where its advantages end. There are many areas to choose from and while people shouldn't necessarily rule Cary out when they are considering relocating to the triangle area; they shouldn't assume it is far supperior to other areas either.
I tried to love Cary. I really did. But, you know what, it isn't for me. However, I have friends that live in Cary and love it. I see their love of Cary as a great opportunity for me to explore restaurants and shops when I go to visit them.
I've found that 99% of those who gripe about it, either do not live here, can't afford to live here, or are just plain jealous of it.
You are quite right. Jealousy makes people behave poorly or be nasty towards the haves. It's unfortunate, but it is human behavior. I just have to laugh when I here them try to tear down one of the best places to live in America. Last laugh is always on them, as we get to enjoy Cary first hand. Man...life is good.
Yes, I agree. I do agree, it is not for every person on earth. No place is. But to state it is all hype and crap is nonsense too. It's a great way of life here and a great community.
Some people can't stand the suburbs and that is their choice. For example, I have family who reside in downtown Manhattan NY and love being able to step outside their penthouse and be right smack in the middle of it all. They probably would not like Cary, NC, but they also would not try and call the place a dump either.
If it's not for you, fine, but don't try and trash it just because you don't like it. I would not want to reside in downtown Raleigh, or Durham, but recognize for many, they love it and it works.
I live in North Hills in Raleigh, but we go to Cary all the time. Cary's a cool place, and I can see why folks love living there. The differences from one town or neigborhood to another makes the Triangle what it is. We all have our pros and our cons. Hey, we're all in this thing together
You rent...I am sure your lease has tighter restrictions them most HoAs in Cary and elswhere. I don't get that.
Actually not.
My management is very accommodating. Say, you want to park your work truck or boat in the lot. Just let the business office know and they'll do their best to accommodate you.

Having to ask permission to do something.......sounds like a restriction to me.
Well that's why the statement about not liking Cary because it has HOA's makes no sense, coming from a renter.
Cary does not run the HOA's. All towns have HOA's, including Raleigh. Again, not liking Cary because of HOA's does not make sense.
Cary has homes in & out of HOA's, just like any other town. You can live in Cary and not be in an HOA. So again, not liking Cary because of HOA's does not make sense.
