Sorry about the typo. I meant SE Durham in my posts and can see why it was confusing. SW Durham is right up the road and only like an extra 2 minute commute though. All my point was that I didn't find Cary to be the center of the Triangle. If that were so then anywhere from Cary to the Southpoint area would be considered the center. And of course looking at the center between those two is the Morrisville/SE Durham border, which I see as the center of Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill. I never considered the population b/c that just wasn't my point. Obviously, Wake County has the larger population in the Triangle and I don't think anyone can argue with that. I think this post has gotten over analyzed and silly.

I think the Triangle area as a whole is great and for the most part you can't go wrong moving here. Best word of advice is if you are not sure where in the Triangle you would like to settle down is to explore the area and rent in a place you like and from there you will find the area you want to call home, as there are many choices.

And of course Good Luck!

You just named what I consider to be the sweet spot in the Triangle. From Northwest Cary up to Southpoint. We ended up in Cary in the vicinity of 55 and High House. Why I consider it central for my needs is that no matter which direction I travel, I get to something I am interested in, in a short period of time. Due west is Jordan lake. Due East is Raleigh. North/northwest is Southpoint in Durham. North by just a few miles is RTP (just 5 minutes to the RTP line). Southeast is CTC & Crossroads in Cary. South is Beaver Creek in Apex. I am surrounded by all these things that I have some interest in. I can walk or bike ride to a lot of options right in my own neighborhood and then have very short drives to many more things. So while Morrisville is the geographic center, my section of Cary is about the exact center of all the hot spots. To me, that is what is most important. Sometimes people focus on the absolute shortest commute to work, yet forget how much they will have to drive for things outside of work. I found the perfect location for both, for me.

Friendly neighborhoods with mostly young professionals in great locations (that I would be looking into if I was looking for a new home):

Scott's Mill/Bungalow Park in Apex (Scotts Mill Homeowners Association )
Glenwood South in NW Raleigh (nearest intersection is glenwood and millbrook rd)
Brier Creek Townhomes News Page
Long Lake (nearest intersection is Glenwood and Pinecrest)
Harrington Pointe (nearest intersection is Leesville Rd and Hickory Grove Church Road)
Townes at Umstead (nearest intersection is glenwood and ebenezer church road)

Hope this helps!
