I've never actually used CPI, but my experience in trying to use them left me feeling like they were trying to fleece me. My house was wired for an alarm system when it was built, so I called some companies for quotes. CPI (1) refused to cover me using TWC digital phone service. They said I would have to get a cellular adapter which would cost several hundred dollars plus additional monthly fees; and (2) because I had a dog the motion sensors I had would not work and I would need to have them install different sensors, again for several hundred dollars. Net was they wanted to charge me almost $700 just to start service in a house that already had an alarm system installed. Wonder what it would have cost to start with nothing?
To CHTransplant....CPI is lying to you. I have TW digital phone and an independent alarm system. TW also offers their own home security system. You should call TW and tell them what CPI told you, because I believe TW actually filed a suit against one of the big alarm companies saying their systems would not work with TW phone.
American Alarms did a awesome job wiring my house and they were very neat with no mess. There monitoring is local they don't sub contract it like most companies do. The monitoring is very reasonable.
Are there any alarm companies that don't require a contract? I listen to Clark Howard (finance guy) and he advises people not to get into a contract for a home alarm, but I haven't been able to find a company that will install an alarm without a contract.
^^Call the small business alarm companies in your area yellow pages senalj.
