(as seen in other thread) We are considering a relocation to Raleigh, and will be coming up in the next few weeks to find a place to live. We want to rent a house, and looking for the best place to search. Is there a major agency in town that we should go through?

Thanks in advance, never even been to town, and not sure where to start

thanks

We did the same. If you search realtor.com there is an option to look at rentals rather than houses for sale. I'd also suggest getting a realtor - some help with finding rental houses as well as homes for purchase.

Happy house hunting.

When are you looking to move here? If you're looking for a private rental, there's no sense in looking until about 30-45 days prior to your move. Owners won't hold anything that's available now longer than that (and even that's pushing it) and current residents have to give a 30 day notice, so you won't know about other things coming up if you look too early.

To get the best selection of rental homes, I recommend contacting a Realtor. They'll have access to MLS so you'll have the largest selection of homes to look out. Don't go to a strictly rentals only agency. They'll only direct you to their listings and you'll miss out on a lot of options!

Good luck!

Welcome to the area!

Also check out Craigslist. We just rented our home in Garner and unfortunately, heard a lot of sad tales about unclean homes in disrepair coming from folks who worked with major rental home agencies. Back when we were renting, we always had the best luck with private owners.
